About Me:
Hiya! I'm Ally, I'm a kiwi, and I work part time in a jewellery store. I had been studying at University but I've decided to take a break from that for a little bit while I figure out what I wanna do with my life (LOL quarter-life crisis). I have two older brothers who are far more supportive than they should be with regards to this blog, and I can't express my appreciation enough. I have the most incredible Mum in the world who is almost as bad a polish addict as I am, and so completely understands the need for sparkly things. She is my greatest inspiration, my most constant support, and the best friend I could ever have wished for. I have a great love of music and come from a very talented family. I was tutored in classical violin for 11 years, and have been performing as a backing vocalist in professional level musicals for the last 5 years. So much fun!! Other than that, my happy place is bed, curled up with a cat or two and an Anime or Sci-Fi series on the tele. I'm easily entertained... =)
About The Polish:
My love of nail polish started when I was so young that I can't even remember. In mid 2010 I bought my very first OPI polishes - Bubble Bath and Funny Bunny - and my true passion for polish was born. It was while I was working in a jewellery store at the end of 2010 that I started venturing into the nail art side of the polish world. The most wonderful woman there (who got me the job) always had such perfect glossy nails in all sorts of shades, and often accented her ring fingers with stick on glitter flowers over her gorgeous polish. Monkey see, monkey do, and I was hooked.
My OPI collection grew and grew, and it was on their Facebook page that Cris's blog popped up, and I had to check it out. I was absolutely blown away! I'd never even heard of nail stamping or dotting tools or any of the things that now seem so elemental to nail art, and she inspired me to explore and play. From there I discovered Marta's blog, and the two together had my fingers itching for new designs! I absolutely flooded my poor Facebook friend's news feeds with photos of my tips, and after some consideration decided to show them mercy. Reach For The Polish was born.
About The Blog:
This blog has been a surprising help to me. Taking time out every other day to sit down, relax, come up with something beautiful and share it with lovely and supportive people has been simply wonderful. For those of you reading, your support means so much! Thank you!! I emailed Cris and Marta when I started to let them know how inspiring and creative they are, and their replies were so sweet and kind that I knew this was something I wanted to keep doing. They are a constant source of inspiration and I can spend hours on end going through their amazing creations and never get bored! My blog is a place for me to get creative and share what I do without bothering my friends on Facebook who aren't into it. I hope to make it something interesting to read and hopefully even inspire some of you to play with polish to. It's a teeny tiny version of art, and I think it should be appreciated as such. Especially Sammy's creations - my goodness have you seen them??!?
