Happy Wednesday, lovely people! I haven't done a Pink Wednesday post in forever, so I thought it was about time to reinstate the tradition! I have a couple of manis for you today with similar themes: obviously they're both pink, but they both utilise Nail Vinyls as well. Nail Vinyls are the genius brainchild of @teismom and they are absolutely brilliant. I'll explain a bit more about them further on, but first, enjoy some pics!
For the first mani I used two coats of piCture pOlish Fairy Floss as a base colour, applied some nail vinyls and used piCture pOlish Magenta as the top colour. A coat of Seche Vite smoothed everything out.
Now I'm no pro at tape manis but these nail vinyls make even me look competent! You can buy them in sheets of different shapes (I used the regular chevrons for this one) - they're basically like a very soft plastic tape with an adhesive on one side that are pre-cut into shapes to use for nail art. From memory (she's currently all sold out because they're completely amazing!) there are straight lines, large, regular and mini chevrons, V-shapes, a zebra pattern, large and small dots (for half moons as well as polka dots), and lightning bolts! Phew! If you're interested, it's worth following her on Instagram @teismom for updates on restocks. Oh, and shipping to NZ for 4 sheets of designs was 75c! Whaaat?!
These are super adhesive so they won't slip, but that does mean the base colour has to be COMPLETELY dry before you try and stick 'em on. I cheated and used a coat of Seche Vite over my base colour to speed up the setting process. I've used a lot of tape and nail tape etc in the past and I have to say, these are hands-down the easiest and cleanest option for this kinda nail art! Yep, I love 'em.
For the second PINK mani I used two coats of OPI I Theodora You, applied the V-shape nail vinyls and painted the tips with Cult Nails Morning Glory. This polish is going to get its own post at some point, but I had to slip it into a Pink Wednesday post. Morning Glory sets to a "wax" finish (kinda like a glossy matte?) which I'm pretty sure is unique to Cult Nails at this point. (Side note: They've just brought out a red in this finish and I'm dyyyyyying to get my grabby hands on it!! When I say "just", I mean it's still on pre-sale and hasn't actually been released yet... Payday, hurry up!). I added rose-coloured hexagonal glequins from Born Pretty Store to the point, and finished it all off with Seche Vite.
My sheer-polish-applying skills need a bit of work to get rid of those bald spots, but I like the overall effect =).
So there ya go, happy Pink Wednesday! I have a bunch of gorgeous pink polishes that haven't made it onto the blog yet so I'm thinkin' I'll try and get this Pink Wednesday thing up and running properly in the near future. And keep an eye out for the nail vinyls restock! They're completely worth the wait!
Thank for you reading, and I hope y'all enjoy the rest of your week ^_^.
